Santos is proud to be a long running supporter of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) WA, which provides free accommodation services and support to regional families with children who need extended medical care in Perth. Care is provided – 24/7, 365 days a year.
At a recent morning tea attending by Government, major partners and Santos representatives, the real and tangible benefits of this important organisation were plain for all to see, with the opportunity to meet and mingle with families staying at the house and take part in a ‘Lovin’ From The Oven’ cooking session.
RMHC provides free accommodation services to regional families with children who need extended medical care in Perth, providing a home away from home for many families so they can stay close to their child, when they need it most.
The WA Premier recently announced a further $9.6 million to support Ronald McDonald House, which will more than double the accommodation services currently provided in Perth.
Santos is the principal sponsor of the Ronald McDonald Family Room located in Perth Children’s Hospital, which provides a place of respite, comfort and support for families when waiting for in patient and/or outpatient appointments. It is also a hub for information on other important health and wellbeing services such as the NDIS. We are also the proud principal sponsor of Kulunga Moort Mia (meaning ‘children’s family place’), a culturally sensitive space where Indigenous families can rest or make refreshments while visiting the hospital and access support and information from Aboriginal Liaison Officers.
These facilities provide support and respite to all families visiting the hospital. An estimated 30,000 people from all parts of regional and remote WA utilise these facilities each year and we are so proud to support this important community service that gives so much back to families.
Our people are also given the opportunity to get involved with this organisation – which they do with great enthusiasm. As part of the sponsorship agreement Santos staff are invited to take part in 12 “Home for Dinner” opportunities, an excellent staff engagement and volunteering opportunity that supports team building, as a staff group works together to cook the evening meal for RMHC WA families.
