Discovered
Jabiru was discovered in 1983 and Challis in 1984.
First Production
Oil production from Jabiru commenced in 1986 and from Challis in 1989.

Capital invested by Santos to date is approximately A$65 million.
Facility Details
Santos has participated in the Jabiru and Challis oil fields oil fields since 1988. The two oil fields are serviced by leased Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessels.
The Jabiru oil field is serviced by the Jabiru Venture FPSO, Australia’s first FPSO, which has an installed capacity of 55,000 barrels of oil per day. The field has seven gas-lifted sub-sea production wells.
The Challis oil field is serviced by the Challis Venture FPSO which has an installed capacity of 35,000 barrels of oil per day. The field has eight gas-lifted sub-sea production wells and one water re-injection well.
Crude produced and stored in the FPSOs is exported by shuttle tankers.
